A festival stage becomes its own event

The Groove Room, which grew as a dedicated African electronic music stage within ULTRA South Africa, is taking its first standalone Cape Town edition to Cabo Beach on Saturday, 26 December 2026. The organisers, Anything Goes and Showtime, are building the Boxing Day event around the sound and dancefloor culture that helped the stage develop a following of its own.

The move is an industry story as much as an entertainment announcement: a stage identity that began inside a larger festival is now being tested as an independent event with its own ticketing, venue and production.

The current bill

The live Howler event listing names Kelvin Momo, DJ Kent, DBN Gogo, MÖRDA back-to-back with DJ Zinhle, DJ Lag, Thakzin, JNR SA, International Pantsula, Slow Poison and Ca Ma Gu. Earlier organiser publicity listed NOT A SHE among the performers; the current ticketing listing is the more recent programme, and attendees should check it again closer to the event.

That programme moves between amapiano, gqom, house, Afro House and 3-Step. Kelvin Momo represents the softer, melodic end of amapiano, DJ Lag brings gqom, and the MÖRDA–DJ Zinhle pairing places two prominent dance-music figures behind the decks together.

What ticket-holders should know

The event is scheduled to run from 16:00 on 26 December until 02:00 on 27 December at Cabo Beach, 12 South Arm Road, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. The official ticketing page lists an 18-and-over age restriction and separate options for tickets and tables.

Because prices, release phases and artist listings can change, CREATIVE KONG is not presenting an unverified fixed ticket price. The current Howler listing is the authoritative place to check availability, entry conditions and the latest bill.

The wider significance is the continued expansion of South African electronic music beyond single-genre events. A programme spanning amapiano, gqom and 3-Step puts the country’s different dance-music scenes in one setting rather than treating them as separate worlds.
