Moonchild Sanelly is preparing another turn in a career built on refusing neat categories. Her forthcoming project The Blueprint moves toward Afro-house, with the first single due on 7 October, a second on 21 October and the full project scheduled for 4 November through Zakes Bantwini’s Mayonie Productions.

The shift is less a reinvention than a continuation of her method. Across gqom, electronic music, amapiano and alternative pop, Moonchild has repeatedly treated club music as a space where character, fashion, humour and provocation can coexist.

That makes Afro-house an interesting next room rather than an unexpected detour. The key question will be how much of her self-described Future Ghetto Funk survives inside a form with its own strong rhythmic grammar.

The rollout also places collaboration and infrastructure in focus. Mayonie Productions links the project to Zakes Bantwini, one of the artists who helped carry South African house music into a wider global conversation.

For listeners, 7 October is the first real test: not whether Moonchild can fit Afro-house, but what Afro-house sounds like after passing through Moonchild Sanelly.
