Four days, three connected programmes

Cape Town’s music-business calendar moves into focus this week as FAME Week Africa’s Music Week brings three programmes together from Wednesday 28 to Saturday 31 October 2026. It is designed less as a conventional concert festival than as a meeting point for the people who make, release, licence, market and monetise music.

Muziki Africa opens on 28 October at CTICC 2. The Pretty Loud Summit follows on 29 and 30 October at the same convention-centre complex, while the 16th Music Exchange conference concludes the programme on Saturday 31 October at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town.

Rights and technology are at the centre

The official Muziki programme includes sessions on digital music rights, royalty collection, social-media licensing and the commercial use of recordings. Its published agenda also addresses artificial intelligence, metadata, creator protection and the ways artists build durable brands beyond a single viral release.

For independent musicians and managers, those subjects have practical consequences: knowing who controls a master recording, how publishing rights differ from recording rights and what is required before music can be licensed for film, advertising or online platforms. The event’s Sync Hub is intended to connect rights holders with screen-sector professionals.

A platform for women in music — and a final day for deal-making

The inaugural Pretty Loud Summit is focused on women working across the music business, including artists, songwriters, producers, DJs, managers and executives. Organisers describe it as a forum for mentorship, collaboration and professional development.

Music Exchange closes the week with discussions about entertainment economics, royalty streams, music supervision and sustainable careers. Its 2026 programme includes a SAMRO leadership panel and sessions on music rights and artificial intelligence.

Dates, venues and ticket checks

Muziki Africa: Wednesday 28 October, CTICC 2, Cape Town. Pretty Loud Summit: Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October, CTICC 2. Music Exchange: Saturday 31 October, Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town.

Organiser registration lists different conference and professional-attendee passes. A separate Music Exchange promotion advertises entry-level tickets, but these do not automatically establish access to every FAME Week activity, business matchmaking session or invitation-only event. Delegates should confirm their selected pass, current pricing and the exact venue before travelling.

The value of the week will be measured less by the number of panels than by whether musicians leave with better knowledge of their rights, useful relationships and a clearer route from creative work to income.
