Constitution Hill becomes an Afro-house stage
Mayonie Open Air is scheduled for Constitution Hill in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, on Sunday, 29 November 2026, from midday until 22:00. Presented by Mayonie Productions, the event brings a broad cross-section of South African electronic music into a venue with a very different history from the usual club or outdoor field.
The festival’s programme is framed around the evolution of Afro-house, with established performers and newer names sharing the bill. The date follows the Durban edition held earlier in the year.
The pairings give the bill its shape
Themba and Zakes Bantwini are among the leading names on the announced lineup. Two back-to-back sets stand out: Da Capo with Enoo Napa, and Oscar Mbo with Ciza. The collaborative format makes these different from standard individual DJ performances.
Other acts listed in current event coverage include Simmy, Thandi Draai, Crazy White Boy, Samurai, Privacii, Jazzworx and Thukuthela. Individual performance times were not confirmed in the official ticket listing reviewed.
Tickets and entry requirements
The official Howler listing confirms the 29 November date, the Constitution Hill venue at 11 Kotze Street and the 12:00–22:00 event window. Admission is restricted to adults aged 18 and over. The organiser lists parking at the venue and prohibits weapons, umbrellas, camping chairs, cooler boxes, illegal substances and alcohol brought from outside.
An October event guide advertised Phase 1 general admission at R300 and VIP at R950, with some early-bird allocations sold out. Ticket tiers and availability can change, so buyers should check the live Howler checkout rather than rely on a historical price.
Why this one matters
The festival connects different generations and strains of South African house music, from soulful sounds to more percussive Afrotech. Holding it at Constitution Hill places contemporary club culture alongside one of Johannesburg’s most recognisable civic landmarks.
For attendees, the essentials are straightforward: Sunday 29 November, Constitution Hill, adults only, midday opening and advance tickets through the official event page. The final running order and any programme changes should be checked with the organiser closer to the date.
